This is a burning or prickling sensation often described as pins-and-needles, or something that has fallen asleep. Paresthesia is sometimes accompanied by pain, but not always.

When you were growing up, did you hear things like, “Don’t crack your knuckles, you’ll get arthritis.” Or “I swear the weather’s changing. I can feel it in my bones because of my arthritis.”  There is some truth to the latter sentence, but the first one is simply a wives tale. Arthritis is not caused by cracking your knuckles, but some people with the diagnosis can feel when the weather changes, because of the effects it has on the joints, like swelling or stiffness.

Kinesiology Tape

Kinesiology tape, it’s sort of becoming a trendy thing.  If you haven’t heard about it, you’ve probably seen it, especially on athletes walking around campus, at the gym…It’s a colorful, tape that is often on the limbs and around the joints.  The patterns they create with the tape seems like nothing more than a bored physical therapist trying out some new duct tape designs- body art for the injured athlete!

We’ve all felt that panicky feeling when we try on a ring and can’t get it off!  Why is it that we immediately go into shock!  Sweat beads up on our forehead, our eyes become larger than a blue moon in August and we see our life flash before our eyes?  Okay…that may be a bit dramatic, well maybe not for me!…but, nevertheless, it’s not a fun experience to have a swollen finger and ring that won’t budge!
